Kosher Certification and Legal Compliance Statement
Effective Date: April 30, 2026
1. Purpose of this Statement
This document serves as the official declaration of Kosher (Kashrut) compliance for Gladstones Caterer. It outlines the legal and religious framework under which we operate, ensuring our clients and their guests have absolute confidence in the integrity of the food prepared and served at our events.
2. The Legalities of Kosher: What is it?
Kosher refers to a comprehensive body of Jewish dietary laws derived from the Torah and codified in rabbinic tradition. In the context of consumer protection and food safety laws, claiming a product or service is “Kosher” is a binding declaration that the food has been sourced, prepared, and handled under strict, specific guidelines. The fundamental tenets of Kashrut include:
- Permitted Species:
Only specific animals (those with cloven hooves that chew their cud), certain poultry, and fish with fins and scales are permitted. - Shechita (Ritual Slaughter):
All permitted meat and poultry must be humanely slaughtered by a highly trained and certified specialist (Shochet) in accordance with Jewish law. - Strict Separation of Meat and Dairy:
Meat and dairy products cannot be cooked, served, or consumed together. This necessitates completely separate cookware, utensils, dishwashing facilities, and preparation areas to avoid any cross-contamination. - Inspection and Extraction:
All meat must be meticulously inspected for blemishes and undergo a strict soaking and salting process to remove prohibited blood and fats. Furthermore, all produce must be rigorously checked to ensure it is completely free of insect infestation.
3. The Importance of Kosher Integrity
Maintaining Kosher standards is not merely a style of cooking; it is a sacred trust and a legal standard of operational transparency. For observant Jewish families, adherence to Kashrut is a cornerstone of daily life and religious practice. A strict Kosher certification allows all guests to partake in weddings, Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, and corporate galas with complete peace of mind.
Beyond religious observance, the rigorous chain of custody required to maintain a Kosher kitchen means that food sourcing, preparation, and sanitation undergo an exceptional level of scrutiny. This meticulous attention to detail ensures superior quality control and food safety for every guest we serve.
4. Gladstones Caterer’s Unwavering Adherence
Under the expert leadership of Raphy Amar—a veteran with over 30 years in the Kosher culinary industry—Gladstones Caterer strictly adheres to every facet of Kosher law without compromise.

5. Official Certification by COR
To legally and spiritually guarantee our Kosher status, Gladstones Caterer is officially certified by COR (The Kashruth Council of Canada).
